Dodge Eyes Sub-$30k Performance Car, CEO Matt McAlear Says

Dodge CEO Matt McAlear told The Drive at the New York Auto Show that the company sees strong demand for an affordable performance car but did not confirm any specific model.

McAlear reiterated earlier February comments that there could be room for a sub-$30,000 sports car and said fans want something more accessible than Dodge's current lineup.

Dodge's most affordable performance offerings remain costly: the two-door Dodge Charger starts at over $50,000, which would likely push a true budget sports car toward a lighter two-door or compact sedan.

Past Dodge concepts such as the 2002 Razor and 2007 Demon explored lightweight four-cylinder performance, and Motor1 noted that while the idea appears alive internally, nothing has been officially announced.
