Dovizioso Warns Marquez Shoulder Injury May Be Worse and Hard to Fix

Andrea Dovizioso, a former Ducati rider and Yamaha test rider, warned that Ducati MotoGP rider Marc Marquez's right-shoulder injury from the 2025 Indonesian Grand Prix is more serious than it appears and may not have an easy solution.

Marquez has said he is still discovering "what my new 100% physical condition is", while his Ducati team reports progress since the crash when Marco Bezzecchi took him out in Indonesia. After three rounds Marquez sits fifth in the standings, 36 points adrift of the lead as Bezzecchi and Aprilia set the early-season pace.

Dovizioso, who finished runner-up to Marquez three times and now works on Yamaha's V4 engine project, told Moto.it after the US GP that "Marc is not a rider who complains" and that "his situation…is much more serious than it seems." He said Marquez still has "a lot to improve physically" and suggested the arm limitation may have worsened since Indonesia, citing Austin as confirmation.
