Ducati MINI Marcellino Minibike with Mototrans 48cc Engine to Be Auctioned

A 1969 Ducati-branded Mini Marcellino minibike will be auctioned by Aguttes in France on April 13. The lot is described as an excellent original example and its running status is unknown.

The Mini Marcellino design originated with DMT (Dinamica Meccanica Tassinari), and Ernesto Palmieri Pirazzoli licensed the model for Spanish production. Pirazzoli sourced Mototrans-built 48cc engines; Mototrans produced Ducatis under license in Spain, which gives the bike its Ducati branding.

Contemporary reports list the DMT version at about 25 mph and roughly 71 MPG; the Ducati-branded machine weighs about 57 pounds, has folding handlebars and a removable seat for stowage. Both wheels are fitted with disc brakes.

Aguttes estimates the sale between $576 and $1,152, positioning the Ducati Mini Marcellino as a compact collectors' piece rather than a daily rider.
