F1 Safety: Brundle Urges FIA to End Self-Learning Power Delivery After Bearman Crash at Suzuka

Martin Brundle, Sky Sports F1 commentator, urged the FIA to address what he called a "fundamentally flawed" power delivery system after Ollie Bearman's high-speed crash at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Ollie Bearman, a Formula 1 driver, lost control and hit the barriers at Suzuka after taking avoiding action while closing on Franco Colapinto, a Formula 1 driver who was harvesting energy; Bearman limped away and was later cleared by on-site medics.

Speaking on the Sky Sports F1 Show, Martin Brundle defended Franco Colapinto and warned that modern power units' self-learning features can surprise drivers, citing Lando Norris, a Formula 1 driver, who said his battery "decided" to overtake Lewis Hamilton, a Formula 1 driver.

Brundle called on the FIA to mandate proportional, linear power delivery so drivers are not aided or surprised by software, saying the change is necessary to protect drivers and track marshals.
