Wesley Beckman, the buyer and plaintiff, is suing Lunghamer Ford of Owosso after alleging that a used Ford Bronco he bought in November 2025 had its odometer rolled back by more than 36,000 miles.
The Bronco was leased in April 2023 and returned to Lunghamer Ford in September 2025 with a recorded 24,042 miles. The federal court complaint lists service records showing mileage rising from 33,641 miles in April 2024 to 60,657 miles in July 2025.
Beckman's complaint alleges the dealership "knew or had reason to know" of the inaccurate odometer statement and names Lunghamer Ford, the Bronco's former lessee and the vehicle lender as defendants, citing violations of federal and Michigan odometer laws, misrepresentation, breach of contract and state consumer protection law.
Beckman's lawyer told Automotive News that Ford Motor Company — which is not a defendant in the suit — offered to repurchase the SUV as a lemon if Beckman signed a document attesting the odometer reflected actual miles, an offer he declined.
