Ford F-150 Next-Gen Truck Arrives by 2029 as New Product Creation Division Launches

Ford announced the next-generation F-150 will arrive by 2029 and created a Product Creation and Industrialization division to lead an intensive product, software and services rollout. Ford said the new group will drive major updates across the company’s vehicle lineup.

The division will oversee planned refreshes of about 80 percent of Ford's North American lineup by volume and 70 percent globally, including next-generation F-series Super Duty models. Ford said a mid-size EV on the Universal EV platform will be roughly Maverick-sized with compact-SUV cabin space and will use a zonal architecture and "unicasting" production process.

Ford aims for new electrical architectures and next-generation over-the-air update capabilities on about 90 percent of volume by 2030 to support features such as BlueCruise. Ford said nearly 90 percent of global models will offer electrified powertrains by 2030 and that the F-150 lineup will include hybrids with the Lightning returning as a range‑extender plug‑in hybrid.

Ford provided few technical or design details about the next-generation F-150 beyond timelines, platform plans and high-level powertrain and software goals.
