The Ford GT Mk IV set a Nürburgring lap time of 6:15.977, making it the fastest American car ever at the circuit and the third-fastest overall.
Ford developed the GT Mk IV with Multimatic and fitted it with a carbon-fiber body, longer wheelbase, large rear wing, race gearbox and an 800-horsepower twin-turbo EcoBoost V6. Ford factory driver Frédéric Vervisch, a two-time 24 Hours of Nürburgring winner, set the lap and called the car "an absolute weapon, a true extension of your will."
Although the GT Mk IV was offered to customers in a limited run of 67 cars priced at $1.7 million and is not road-legal, it surpassed the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype by seven seconds on the Nordschleife. Only the electric Volkswagen ID.R and the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo have recorded faster Nürburgring laps, and the Ford GT Mk IV is the fastest purely internal-combustion car at the circuit.
