Ford Reports Q1 Sales Drop While Retail Share Edges up Amid Uneven Market

Ford reported an 8.8% year‑over‑year retail sales decline in Q1 while estimating its retail market share rose to 11.6% amid uneven industry results.

Ford said double‑digit growth in its high‑margin large SUVs and F‑Series leadership lifted share even as it managed the planned sunsetting of the Escape and Lincoln Corsair; Lincoln ended the quarter roughly even. The company cited aluminum‑supplier plant fires that constrained F‑150 supply and said it expects more volume recovery in the back half of the year.

The overall auto market was down in Q1 with many manufacturers posting March declines; Genesis was the only major monthly‑reporting brand to show growth in March while Hyundai, Kia and Genesis stayed positive for the quarter.

Honda recorded a 5.1% quarterly decline partly tied to weak Prologue sales while Acura stayed positive, and Toyota and Lexus were slightly positive for the quarter with help from the refreshed Toyota bZ.
