Genesis Eyes Hybrids, Expanded Powertrains and Performance for Its Second Decade

Genesis will pursue a broad product expansion in its second decade, prioritizing hybrid and multiple electrified powertrains, Ash Corson, director of product planning for Genesis, said.

At the 2026 New York Auto Show, Hyundai Group CEO Jose Muñoz described an ambitious expansion for Genesis during a speech that preceded Hyundai's reveal of the Boulder concept.

Corson said Genesis currently has no hybrid models but is evaluating traditional hybrids, plug-in hybrids and extended-range electric powertrains, and that hybrids are "coming quite soon."

High-performance models remain a focus for Genesis, with the Magma GT supercar and the GV60 Magma performance EV already unveiled, and Corson said a V‑8 or other enthusiast powertrains remain possible for future variants.
