Haas driver Ollie Bearman said seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton was among the first to text and meet him after Bearman's surprise Formula 1 debut for Ferrari at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, during an appearance on the Up To Speed podcast.
Bearman was a last-minute stand-in for Carlos Sainz after Sainz was taken ill with appendicitis; on debut in Jeddah he qualified 11th and finished seventh.
Bearman secured a full-time seat with Haas for 2025 and continues with the team in 2026, sitting seventh in the drivers' standings with 17 points after three rounds while team-mate Esteban Ocon is 15th with one point. Bearman praised Hamilton's support and said seeing Hamilton's continued hunger and performance is motivating.
