Lewis Hamilton, seven-time world champion and Ferrari driver, has shown a return to form after the first two Formula 1 races as Ferrari emerges as the clear second-best team.
Hamilton struggled with the SF-25 and adapting to ground-effect machinery after moving from Mercedes last year. Ferrari paused development early to focus on 2026, and Riccardo Adami, Ferrari race engineer, was reassigned over the winter while Hamilton received a different race engineer.
Hamilton contributed to the 2026 project and acclimatised to the team, and Ferrari’s early R&D has produced a more competitive car. Ferrari now sits ahead of McLaren and Red Bull but still faces the challenge of closing the gap to Mercedes.
