Hyundai Boulder Concept Signals Midsize Body‑On‑Frame Pickup, Production Aimed by 2030

Hyundai unveiled the body-on-frame Boulder Concept at the New York International Auto Show and confirmed a midsize pickup—the first model in this new line—is expected by 2030.

Hyundai design chief SangYup Lee highlighted the concept's pixelated front light signature. The exhibition concept uses coach-style rear-hinged doors, but renderings and commentary suggest production trucks will use conventional front-hinged doors, chunky manual handles and door-mounted mirrors.

Renderings of a potential production variant portray an extreme off-road version with 37-inch tires, large ground clearance, an overhead light bar and tow points, while mainstream trims would be tamer. Hyundai has not previously offered a body-on-frame midsize pickup in the U.S., where the Toyota Tacoma has long dominated the segment.
