Hyundai Debuts Boulder Concept and Previews U.S.-Built Body-On-Frame Pickup

Hyundai unveiled the Boulder off-road SUV concept at the 2026 New York Auto Show.

The Boulder pairs boxy proportions with Hyundai’s "Art of Steel" styling and references vehicles such as the four-door Ford Bronco and the Land Rover Defender with roof-mounted safari windows.

Hyundai equipped the concept with rear-hinged second-row coach doors, a dual-hinged tailgate with a roll-down rear window, 37-inch mud-terrain tires, and interior fold-out tray tables alongside physical knobs and buttons.

Hyundai says the Boulder is a design preview of an upcoming body-on-frame pickup truck and that the platform will be developed and built in the United States for the North America market; the automaker previously sold the compact Santa Cruz.
