Hyundai Q1 U.S. Sales Rise as Ioniq 5 Climbs Amid EV Subsidy End

Hyundai said U.S. first-quarter 2026 sales increased 1.0% to 205,388 units, with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 up 14% to 9,790 sales through March despite the end of federal EV subsidies.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 fell 75% and is largely absent from the U.S. market, and the Santa Cruz is being discontinued; Hyundai's top sellers were the Tucson (55,426), Santa Fe (33,343) and Elantra (33,063, down 1%).

Hyundai said hybrid strength drove gains, with Santa Fe, Elantra and Sonata hybrid sales up 47%, 141% and 107%, respectively, while the all-new Palisade rose 6% with 37,704 sold; Venue increased 12% to 6,761, Sonata fell 8% to 14,547 and Kona rose 2%.
