Hyundai Recalls 61,093 Palisade SUVS Over Power-Seat Defect; Kia Issues Smaller Telluride Recall

Hyundai has recalled 61,093 2026 Palisade Limited and Calligraphy SUVs in the U.S. and paused sales of certain 2026 Palisade models after discovering that power second- and third-row seats can fail to detect occupants or objects, a defect linked to a fatal incident involving a two‑year‑old.

Hyundai is offering rental vehicles, developing an interim over‑the‑air software update expected by the end of March to increase sensor sensitivity, and working on a permanent remedy; roughly 8,000 affected Palisades are in Canada. After an internal review, Kia filed a recall for 568 Telluride SUVs covering select 2027 Telluride Hybrid SX Prestige and X‑Line SX Prestige models.
