Hyundai Releases Permanent Seat-Safety Software Update for 2026 Palisade Recall

Hyundai has released a permanent software update for the powered second- and third-row seats on 2026 Palisade and Palisade Hybrid Limited and Calligraphy models to address a recall after seat-detection failures that caused one fatality and four minor injuries; the update is available OTA via Bluelink or at dealerships.

The update disables infotainment folding controls, requires press-and-hold for seat and cargo switches and most tilt/fold actions, retains one-touch return for tilt, updates seat logic to stop folding or tilting if it detects a person or object, and requires the liftgate open for fold-flat stowage.

Hyundai issued a temporary reprogramming earlier and on April 3 released the certified permanent fix intended to prevent inadvertent activation of folding and tilt functions.

Kia has not released a similar update for certain 2027 Telluride models, and owners should closely monitor second-row occupancy when using tilt and folding functions.
