Hyundai has unveiled the Venus saloon and Earth SUV concepts as previews of a new China-specific electric vehicle range that will use planetary names rather than Ioniq numerics.
The two show cars introduce a single-curve design language distinct from Hyundai's Ioniq models; the Venus features a cab-forward profile, radiant-gold finish and a widespan digital cockpit, while the Earth adopts rugged cladding, skid plates and multi-pocket "air-hug" seats.
Simon Loasby, Hyundai's head designer, described the concepts as a declaration of a new direction for the brand in China. Hyundai has not confirmed production plans or timing and will present further details at the Beijing motor show later this month.
