Hyundai released a series of enigmatic teaser images showing a giant floating rock ahead of the New York Auto Show, without revealing what vehicle or product will be unveiled.
Observers have linked the imagery to the Crater, an off-road electric concept Hyundai showed at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year that included promised locking differentials, long-travel remote-reservoir suspension and stainless-steel bash plates.
The off-road segment is currently strong with rivals such as the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler, and the Crater's relatively finished hardware and larger footprint fueled speculation Hyundai might consider a production version.
Hyundai has not provided further details about the teasers or the planned New York Auto Show reveal, and the company has not confirmed any production plans.
