Kansas has sent the Kansas Motorsports Venue Protection Act (House Bill 2416) to Governor Laura Kelly; the measure would bar nuisance-based civil suits against existing motorsports facilities.
The Kansas House of Representatives approved the bill 122-0 after the Kansas Senate passed it 38-2, clearing the legislature. House Bill 2416 specifically shields racetracks from noise and nuisance complaints by new neighboring property owners.
Car and Driver reported there is no public indication that Governor Laura Kelly will oppose the bill. Iowa and North Carolina have passed similar protections, and other states are considering comparable legislation.
Under House Bill 2416, property owners who move next to established motorsports venues would be barred from filing civil suits based on noise or nuisance claims, aligning Kansas with those other states.
