Kia, Genesis Recall 235,792 Vehicles Over Potential Fuel-Pipe Leak

Kia and Genesis are recalling a combined 235,792 vehicles for a potential fuel leak that could increase the risk of an engine-bay fire.

The Kia recall covers 141,032 Carnival minivans from the 2022–2026 model years, while Genesis recalls 94,760 vehicles spanning the GV70, GV80, G80 and G90 from 2021–2026. The filings were submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on April 10.

NHTSA documents say a suspected production deviation could allow retention fasteners on the high-pressure crossover fuel pipe to loosen, causing leaks. A Hyundai representative confirmed the affected Genesis models use the 3.5-liter V-6, and Kia's documents do not reference the Carnival Hybrid.

Dealers will inspect the high-pressure crossover pipe and replace or re-tighten connectors as needed, and owners will be contacted with instructions to visit service centers. Kia plans to mail notification letters on June 2 and Genesis on June 8.
