Kia Vigato (Lotus Elan M100) Resurfaces on Bring a Trailer with 33K Miles

A 1990s Kia Vigato — the Japan-market name for the Kia-built Lotus Elan M100 — has been listed on Bring a Trailer and shows about 33,000 miles on the odometer.

Lotus launched the Elan M100 in 1989, and when Lotus wound down M100 production in 1995 Kia bought the tooling and produced a Kia Elan that was exported to Japan as the Vigato.

Towards the end of production Lotus replaced the turbocharged 1.6-liter with a simpler 1.8-liter unit; this example was rated at 155 horsepower when new and drives the front wheels through a five-speed manual.

Imported into Canada from Japan in November 2022, the Kia Vigato previously appeared on Bring a Trailer three years earlier and remains notable for its mixed British-Korean-Japanese provenance.
