Lamborghini Pushes First Fully Electric Car Launch Past 2030 to Protect Brand Appeal

Lamborghini has postponed the launch of its first fully electric car to after 2030 while continuing electric development and prioritising the brand’s emotional appeal and distinctive soundtrack.

CEO Stephan Winkelmann said the company opted to equip the upcoming Lanzador with a PHEV powertrain instead of all‑electric, clarified his earlier “expensive hobby” remark, and cited rising rejection rates for full‑electric cars. Lamborghini will use the extended timeframe to study how rivals make electric cars feel emotional and to manage financial impacts that helped drive an 8.3% profit decline despite record deliveries.
