Lola Revives the T70 as a 500bhp Road Car and 530bhp Track Racer with Natural-Fibre Body

Reborn British race-car maker Lola has launched the T70S GT road car and a track-only T70S, reviving the Mk3B T70 with a 500bhp road variant and a 530bhp race version.

The T70S GT uses a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre Chevrolet V8 with a six-speed Hewland manual that can switch to sequential mode for track use. An aluminium monocoque yields a dry weight of 890kg and a 0–62mph time of 2.9 seconds.

The track T70S retains a 5.0-litre Chevrolet V8 and a five-speed Hewland box, making 530bhp at 860kg dry for 0–62mph in 2.5 seconds. Till Bechtolsheimer, Lola chairman, said Lola developed a new natural-fibre composite from plant waste, basalt and sugarcane resin, the company will build 16 examples at its Silverstone base and prototypes have FIA Historic Technical Passport papers.
