Los Angeles Fire Department Adds 30 ERidePro Electric Motorcycles Donated by Google and YouTube

The Los Angeles Fire Department received 30 ERidePro electric motorcycles donated by Google and YouTube to improve emergency medical response and access to wildfire and search-and-rescue sites across traffic-congested and rough terrain.

LAFD Chief Jamie Moore said, "These aren't patrol bikes, they are mobile medical units assigned to our disaster response section and fully integrated into our dispatch and command system." Electrek reported each ERidePro will be operated by two-person teams that can split lanes under California law and reach patients faster than larger vehicles.

Google and YouTube donated the bikes to help the Los Angeles Fire Department tackle wildfires, search-and-rescue and disaster relief, since the electric motorcycles can traverse unpaved roads and navigate gridlock more easily than fire trucks. The motorcycles carry basic medical equipment rather than hoses or ladders and can assess hazards and coordinate ambulance transport if needed.
