Maverick Vinales Has Displaced Shoulder Screw Removed in Successful Surgery

Tech3 KTM rider Maverick Vinales underwent successful surgery on Tuesday at the Hospital of Sassuolo in Italy to remove a displaced screw from his left shoulder.

Vinales withdrew from the MotoGP US Grand Prix after Friday practice due to severe pain; the screw had been inserted after his Sachsenring crash in 2025 and became displaced, and he flew from Texas for treatment by a team led by doctor Giuseppe Porcellini.

The 31-year-old posted a photo of the removed screw and thanked Dr Giuseppe Porcellini, Dr Padolino and Dr Giorgini on social media, writing, "Well… that already feels better."

Vinales has failed to score points in the opening three races for Tech3 KTM while team-mate Enea Bastianini and factory rider Pedro Acosta have posted stronger results, and Vinales said he ran a different development path before the injury; he aims to return at the Spanish Grand Prix on 25-26 April.
