Factory BMW driver Robin Frijns said he expects four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen to join the World Endurance Championship in the Hypercar category in the coming years.
Frijns won the Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie round with teammates Marco Wittmann and Phillip Eng in a Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 Evo. He will race at the Nurburgring 24 Hours on 14-17 May, where Verstappen will contest additional GT3 qualifying races.
Robin Frijns described the Winward-run Mercedes entry as a strong SP9 contender and said Verstappen would be a serious threat because "if he does something, he does it properly."
Frijns said he hopes Verstappen's appearances will boost the World Endurance Championship's profile. Frijns races in the WEC in a BMW M V8 Hybrid LMDh alongside former DTM star Rene Rast.
