McLaren to Appoint Red Bull Engineer Gianpiero Lambiase as Chief Racing Officer by 2028

Gianpiero Lambiase will join McLaren as chief racing officer, reporting to team principal Andrea Stella, and McLaren said it expects to welcome him "no later than 2028" when his Red Bull contract ends.

Lambiase joined Red Bull from Force India in 2015 and has been Max Verstappen's race engineer since May 2016, helping Verstappen win drivers' titles from 2021 to 2024 while taking on roles as head of race engineering and head of racing.

Red Bull confirmed Lambiase will leave in 2028 when his current contract expires; McLaren's press release said the chief racing officer role already exists and is currently handled by Andrea Stella alongside his team principal duties.
