McLaren to Hire Red Bull Engineer Gianpiero Lambiase as Chief Racing Officer

Gianpiero Lambiase will join McLaren as chief racing officer no later than 2028, the British Formula 1 team announced.

Lambiase joined Red Bull from Force India in 2015 and became race engineer to Max Verstappen, Red Bull driver, in May 2016. He helped secure four drivers' world titles from 2021 to 2024 and later served as head of race engineering and head of racing.

At McLaren, Lambiase will report to Andrea Stella, team principal, and McLaren said Stella currently manages the chief racing officer duties alongside his team principal role.

Red Bull confirmed earlier reporting of Lambiase’s move and said he will leave the Milton Keynes-based team in 2028 when his current contract expires; McLaren said it expects to welcome Lambiase when his existing contract ends, "no later than 2028".
