Negotiations over MotoGP’s 2027–2031 commercial framework between manufacturer group MSMA and MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group (MGPSEG), together with rights holder Liberty Media, stalled at the Circuit of the Americas on Sunday and talks are now on hold.
Teams pushed for a Formula 1-style profit-sharing model while MGPSEG and Liberty Media offered a fixed payment structure; the latest proposal is understood to be about €8m, roughly €1m more than the current deal. Manufacturers told MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta and chief sporting officer Carlos Ezpeleta, and Liberty Media CEO Derek Chang that the increase was insufficient.
MSMA members held an informal meeting in Austin attended by Michele Colaninno, CEO of the Piaggio Group; Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati; Gottfried Neumeister, CEO of KTM; Yuzuru Ishikawa, MotoGP project leader; Alberto Puig, team manager; and Paolo Pavesio for Yamaha as manufacturers sharpen strategy while contract delays hold up rider announcements.
