Mycar Tyre & Auto Fits Camry Interior with UV-Reactive Synthetic “Skin” to Highlight Sunburn Risk

mycar Tyre & Auto commissioned a 2020s Toyota Camry interior upholstered in a UV-reactive synthetic material designed to resemble human skin to demonstrate sun exposure and raise skin cancer awareness.

The installation, called the Sunburnt Car, reddens and darkens under UV light to show sunburn effects inside a vehicle; prosthetic specialists Damian Martin and Adam Johansen built the interior.

Dr. Jo Maitz, Burns Surgeon-Scientist at Concord Hospital in Sydney, worked with the team and described the project as "an important reminder to drivers and their passengers to understand the UV risk and protect themselves." mycar Tyre & Auto said the display highlights UV risks in Australia, which has one of the world's highest skin cancer rates.
