Nissan Shifts to “Mobility Intelligence” with AI Drive, ProPilot and 1M North America Sales Goal

Nissan is replacing its Re:Nissan recovery plan with a long-term "Mobility Intelligence for Everyday Life" strategy that prioritizes AI-defined vehicles and advanced driver assistance, Ivan Espinosa, president and CEO of Nissan Motor Co., said.

Nissan will roll out Nissan AI Drive Technology across about 90 percent of the lineup, debuting the system in Japan on the new Nissan Elgrand this summer, and plans a next-generation ProPilot with point-to-point autonomy by April 2028 alongside Nissan AI Partner infotainment. Japan will host tests of autonomous robotaxis, connected-car platforms, virtual-reality navigation and solid-state-battery work.

Nissan aims for 1 million annual U.S. and Canada sales by fiscal 2030 (ending March 31, 2031) using large vehicles, the Rogue Hybrid e-Power and upcoming body-on-frame models powered by a new V‑6 with optional hybridization, Christian Meunier, chairman of Nissan Americas, said. Nissan also said it will close one plant in Japan and two in Mexico and will use China as a development and export hub to strengthen its EV lineup.
