Paramount Confirms Top Gun 3 with Tom Cruise and Jerry Bruckheimer

Paramount boss Josh Greenstein said at CinemaCon in Las Vegas that Top Gun 3 is officially in development with a script well underway, reuniting actor Tom Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The previous sequel, Top Gun: Maverick (2022), starred actor Tom Cruise and earned about $1.5 billion worldwide; director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer collaborated on that film. Details on a director, release date and casting for Top Gun 3 have not been announced.

Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton was reportedly offered a pilot role during Top Gun: Maverick production in 2018 and had previously expressed interest in appearing, according to a 2024 GQ profile, but there is no confirmation he will appear in Top Gun 3. Hamilton produced and appears in last year’s F1 movie, which Joseph Kosinski directed and Jerry Bruckheimer produced.
