Porsche Abandons 80% EV Sales Target, Commits to ICE and Hybrids Into the 2030s

Porsche has abandoned its earlier target of more than 80 percent EV sales by the end of the decade and will continue developing internal-combustion engines and hybrids, Cayenne product boss Ralf Keller told Auto Express.

Porsche has announced a combustion-engine crossover to replace the first-generation Macan, and a larger three-row SUV will launch first with ICE power; a next-generation Cayenne will arrive with gasoline and hybrid options. Porsche also confirmed the 718 Cayman and Boxster will return with combustion engines and said there have been no announcements to electrify the 911.

Ralf Keller said Porsche could use the Premium Platform Combustion architecture co-developed with Audi to underpin the Macan successor and the large SUV, creating similarities to upcoming Audi Q5 and Q9 models. Porsche said the electric 2027 Cayenne will remain strictly an EV and will not be modified to carry both gasoline and electric drivetrains.
