Prius U.S. Sales Drop 41.5% in Q1 as Toyota Shifts Output to Camry

Toyota said Prius sales in the U.S. fell 41.5% in the first quarter of 2026 to 9,737 units as the company shifted production toward the Camry.

Camry sales rose year-to-date to 78,255 units versus 70,308 in 2025; both models are now hybrids but use different engines and are built in separate plants—Prius at Tsutsumi in Japan and Camry in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Automotive News estimated U.S. tariffs cost Toyota $9.1 billion last year; Toyota has not commented on the Prius' long-term availability in the U.S.
