Red Bull Ring Appoints Dr Helmut Marko as Ambassador After Red Bull Exit

Dr Helmut Marko, 82, has been appointed ambassador for the Red Bull Ring, the Austrian Grand Prix venue, a role he confirmed to OE24 after stepping down from his Red Bull positions at the end of 2025.

Marko advised Red Bull from 2005 and led the Red Bull Junior Team from its 2001 founding; he helped develop four-time champion Sebastian Vettel and driver Max Verstappen and worked with drivers Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly.

Marko said the team lost the championship by two points, called the comeback "unique" but "a very bitter disappointment," and said he decided to leave while in Dubai after the final race.

The Milton Keynes Red Bull team is coping with the 2026 regulation change and sat sixth in the constructors' standings after three rounds, with driver Max Verstappen ninth on 12 points and driver Isack Hadjar 12th on four points.
