A new spy video shows the upcoming Mercedes‑AMG Black Series coupe being driven on public roads with legal license plates, revealing a radical aerodynamic kit and extremely wide Michelin Pilot Cup 2 R tires.
The prototype features pop-out fender vents, center-lock wheels with 325‑mm front and 355‑mm rear rubber, a massive rear wing and a prominent diffuser that appears taken from AMG’s GT3 race car; Mercedes‑AMG is positioning the Black Series as a GT3 homologation special. The car also appears to ditch the rear window and carries a side‑exit exhaust for a V8 believed to use a flat‑plane crankshaft.
Mercedes‑AMG already holds the Nürburgring production car record with the AMG One at 6:29, and the new Black Series could be aimed at further track credentials amid competition from the Ford Mustang GTD, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X and a potential Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The Toyota GR GT delivers more than 641 horsepower and the previous Black Series produced about 720 hp.
