Automakers including Tesla, Rivian, General Motors, Ford and Lucid are increasingly monetizing advanced driver-assistance systems through monthly subscriptions, with reported prices ranging roughly from $20 to $199 per month.
Tesla offers a Full Self-Driving subscription at $99 per month, Rivian has a $49.99 option, GM’s Super Cruise runs $20–$40 after trial and Ford’s BlueCruise is $49.99; Lucid told investors it plans a $69 monthly tier that could reach $199 depending on capability. Manufacturers are treating software features as recurring revenue streams after a vehicle sale.
Kathleen Rizk, senior director of user experience at JD Power, told Automotive News that consumers report subscription fatigue and often feel "nickel-and-dimed" when features are locked behind ongoing fees, reducing perceived value for hands-free driving capabilities.
