TikTok Car Salesman Says Buyer Tried to Use EBT for $432 Down Payment

Rob the Car Guy, a car salesman and TikTok creator, posted a video saying a customer drove two hours to his dealership, was approved for financing, and then attempted to pay a $432 down payment with an EBT card.

The 1 minute 39 second TikTok clip, which has more than 660,000 views, shows Rob the Car Guy saying he offered Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay, Venmo and PayPal before the customer produced an EBT card.

Rob the Car Guy described proposing an in-person transaction at a Walmart to buy groceries with the EBT card and return cash at roughly "50 cents on the dollar," citing timing and "supply and demand" as reasons for the discount.

Commenters warned that exchanging SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits for cash or non-food items is a federal crime under the Food and Nutrition Act, and USDA guidelines cite disqualification, fines and up to five years in prison for trafficking over $100.
