TikTok Car Salesman Says Dealer Sold Him the Wrong Jeep, Called to Retrieve It

Tyler Weaver, a car salesman and TikTok creator, went viral after saying a dealership mistakenly sold him the wrong white Jeep Patriot and later phoned to request the vehicle’s return.

Weaver says the mix-up happened about ten years ago when two identical Patriots were in the detail department and he was handed the wrong car; the dealership discovered the error when another customer bought the other vehicle. Weaver said he wasn’t upset and felt lucky he didn’t get into an accident while driving the unintended car.

The video, which has more than 20,200 views, prompted reminders that paperwork and VINs matter: compare the VIN on your purchase agreement to the vehicle before driving off. If the VINs don’t match, contact the dealership and ask to speak to a manager, and do not return the vehicle without written confirmation of the resolution.

If a dealer delays correcting the error, you can file a complaint with your state DMV or attorney general, and the dealership is generally responsible for fixing paperwork, financing, or DMV issues tied to the mistake.
