United Introduces Coastliner A321neos with Polaris-Style Suites on Transcontinental Routes

United Airlines unveiled the Coastliner series of 50 Airbus A321neo aircraft, configured for ultra-premium domestic transcontinental service and featuring a business-class cabin that brings Polaris-suite features to U.S. routes.

The cabins are redesigned to include lie-flat seats with aisle access, larger entertainment screens and Saks Fifth Avenue sleep sets, plus access to Polaris lounges; the airline also removed three economy seats to add a snack bar and will offer a small premium-economy cabin.

Coastliner flights will operate between San Francisco or Los Angeles and Newark or New York (JFK), with the first aircraft expected this summer and 40 in service by 2028.

United said Coastliner is part of its United Next strategy and plans 250 new planes over two years, including A321XLRs, CRJ450s and Boeing 787s, and Scott Kirby, United Airlines CEO, said the airline has reserves to pursue the program despite the Middle East war.
