Volkswagen unveiled key details of the all-new 2027 Atlas, saying the second-generation SUV will use an EA888 Evo5 2.0-liter turbo making 282 horsepower, sit on the MQB Evo platform and carry a 5,000-pound tow rating while featuring three animated turn-signal patterns.
Volkswagen said the Atlas will continue to be assembled in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the automaker noted the model gains about 13 horsepower over the outgoing Atlas and includes "real wood" interior trim alongside updated lighting and simplified exterior trim.
The company described the redesign as evolutionary rather than radical and highlighted pronounced lighting changes as a key element. Volkswagen also has not yet published images or video showing the new turn-signal animations.
