Volkswagen T‑Roc UK Launch: Mild‑Hybrid Now, Full Hybrid Due Later

Volkswagen T‑Roc has launched in the UK with a 1.5‑litre eTSI mild‑hybrid offered in 114bhp and 148bhp tunes, a full hybrid arriving later in the year, and prices starting at £31,635.

The T‑Roc uses Volkswagen's MQB Evo platform and buyers can choose passive dampers or adjustable dampers for £765; R‑Line models may be fitted with 19‑inch wheels that could affect ride quality on UK roads.

Volkswagen reports improved seat comfort and perceived cabin quality, and the T‑Roc's wheelbase has grown by 30mm to increase rear legroom while boot capacity rises to 475 litres from 445 litres.

The current 1.5 eTSI is quoted at 50mpg, and Volkswagen expects the forthcoming full hybrid (134bhp or 168bhp) to deliver stronger economy; rivals include the Toyota C‑HR, Renault Symbioz, Skoda Karoq and Nissan Qashqai.
