Volkswagen Updates Atlas for 2027 with Sharper Styling and Stronger 2.0t

Volkswagen unveiled the second-generation 2027 Atlas with sharper exterior styling, an upgraded cabin, a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, and added safety and lighting features.

The Atlas moves to the MQB Evo platform, grows about one inch in length while width, height, and wheelbase remain unchanged, and keeps its square-jawed, boxy profile with pronounced fenders.

Exterior updates include twin LED headlight lines that cross a body-colored grille panel and an illuminated VW badge, available illuminated door handles, and new 20- and 21-inch wheel options; a Volkswagen representative said, "Lighting is the new chrome."

Under the hood the Atlas uses the latest EA888 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 282 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque with an eight-speed automatic; front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional, towing stays up to 5,000 pounds, and Volkswagen says a hybrid will arrive in a mid-cycle refresh.
