Williams Conducts Repeated Front‑Wing Experiments with Alex Albon at Suzuka to Gather Aero Data

Williams ran a targeted test programme with driver Alex Albon at the Japanese Grand Prix to collect aerodynamic and downforce data as the team seeks to offset more than 20 kg of excess weight and ongoing front‑end grip problems.

During the final stint at Suzuka, Williams called Alex Albon into the pits repeatedly, executing five pit stops over five laps while changing tyre compounds and progressively altering the front‑wing angle, including adjustments up to 4.5 clicks.

The FW47 is fitted with pressure sensors that allow engineers to derive downforce from different wing settings, and Williams will analyse the collected data during the upcoming one‑month break after cancelled races ahead of planned Miami updates.

Alex Albon previously described the experiment as validated and said a gearbox change had appeared to resolve a possible rear‑end issue noted in China.
