Suzuki Carry EV Swap: Andy Didorosi Drops Tesla Model 3 Drivetrain Into 1996 Kei Truck

Detroit builder and YouTuber Andy Didorosi is converting a 1996 Suzuki Carry kei truck by installing a wrecked Tesla Model 3 Performance drivetrain to create "Sendpai," a single-seat widebody pickup targeting about 550 horsepower and a 1,800-pound weight.

The project began last fall and now has the Model 3 motors and batteries installed, with the truck's track widened by roughly two feet; design work is underway with social media designer Abilemec developing Group B–inspired 3D-printed bodywork.

Andy Didorosi has raced and won in regional rally championships and documents the Sendpai build with regular YouTube updates, while also pursuing other Detroit projects including efforts to revive an old car factory to build electric pickups.

The Sendpai build is collaborative, involving other creators and fabricators, and Didorosi has installed core drivetrain components as fabrication continues toward a running prototype.
