In the first week of April, Bob Power, father of IndyCar driver Will Power, was confronted by an armed gunman who attempted to steal his vehicle at a Toowoomba cafe before law enforcement arrived and apprehended the suspect.
Will Power told Motorsport.com ahead of the Long Beach IndyCar race weekend that he learned the news after landing and that his wife Liz informed him his father had been held up; he described his father's struggle with the attacker and said the man pointed a gun.
Will Power said Bob Power was uninjured and largely unfazed by the incident, and he recounted that his father has many other "crazy" stories from years of driving and racing trips.
