Denny Hamlin Says Kansas Restart Error Cost Victory After Kyle Larson Three‑Wide

NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin said on his Actions Detrimental podcast that he regrets letting NASCAR driver Kyle Larson force him three‑wide on the final restart at Kansas Speedway and believes that mistake cost him the win.

Hamlin had retaken the lead from NASCAR driver Tyler Reddick with four laps remaining and was half a lap from the white flag when NASCAR driver Cody Ware spun on a flat tire to trigger the late restart. He said he was beaten on the restart after Kyle Larson went three‑wide and after Tyler Reddick's contact with NASCAR driver Christopher Bell shoved Bell into his path.

Hamlin said on the podcast that he should have restarted on the top as control car despite data favoring the bottom, noting Kyle Larson did not provide the expected push on that restart.

He added that drivers now prioritize their own lanes and vowed he will run Larson to the apron or keep him there if a similar situation happens again at Kansas.
