Honda Recalls 440,000 Odyssey Minivans Over Faulty Side-Airbag Module

Honda is recalling about 440,000 Odyssey minivans from the 2018–2022 model years after an overly sensitive airbag module was linked to 25 injuries by causing unintended side-airbag deployments. Honda said no deaths have been reported in connection with the issue.

The automaker said the module's incorrect calibration can provoke side curtain or side airbags to deploy following harsh underbody impacts such as potholes, speed bumps, or road debris, potentially increasing crash or injury risk.

Honda is asking owners to bring their Odyssey to an authorized dealer for reprogramming or replacement of the airbag module; registered owners will be contacted by mail, and owners can also call 888-234-2138 or visit www.recalls.honda.com to check coverage.
