Jensen Interceptor GTX: JIA to Revive British-Built V8 GT

Jensen International Automotive (JIA) will revive the Jensen Interceptor name with a British-built, V8-powered grand tourer called the Interceptor GTX, due to be revealed in the coming months.

Autocar reports the Interceptor GTX is JIA’s first clean-sheet design and will be hand-built in ultra-low numbers as an "ultra-high-performance" luxury GT. Autocar understands it will use the Chevrolet Corvette’s 6.2-litre V8 (495bhp, 452 lb ft), while JIA says the car’s powertrain will be bespoke.

JIA says the car will offer a fully analogue driving experience, which suggests a manual gearbox and a cabin with physical controls; it will sit on a lightweight aluminium chassis and follow the original Interceptor’s long-hood, low-slung proportions.

Managing director David Duerden said JIA is "taking the theme of the luxury British GT to fresh, thoroughly modern heights"; a release date has not been confirmed, though a Goodwood Festival of Speed debut is seen as plausible.
