Sam Bird, a Formula E veteran who served as a Formula 1 reserve driver with Mercedes in 2010, said Michael Schumacher's greatest strength during his Mercedes comeback was his ability to work with people and create a strong team environment.
Bird told Lucas Stewart that Schumacher excelled at person-to-person interactions while his teammate Nico Rosberg focused more on car setup and technical detail. Bird said Schumacher brought a presence and respect to the team similar to his time at Ferrari.
Michael Schumacher returned to Formula 1 in 2010 and remained with Mercedes through the end of 2012. Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, has been credited with helping raise Mercedes' team performance during that period.
